I’m Róisín Ní Maoilearca (BA, MSc), a Speech and Language Therapist specialising in neurological conditions (CORU registration SL026423). I hold a European Clinical Specialisation in Stammering (ECSF) and I am dysphagia qualified.
My work is grounded in a strong interest in the nervous system and the body–mind relationship. Over the years, I’ve trained in a range of somatic and nervous system–focused approaches in both Europe and the United States. I am a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, having completed a three-year professional training with Linda Stelte and Berns Galloway through ISE (Ireland Somatic Experiencing). This training is certified by Somatic Experiencing International (SEI) and the European Association of Somatic Experiencing (EASE).
In recent years, I’ve increasingly integrated touch-based approaches into my clinical work. I have trained in Transforming Touch® with Dr Stephen Terrell and in NeuroAffective Touch® with Dr Aline LaPierre (Modules 1–3). I have also completed training in Somatic Regulation & Resilience® (Module 1) developed by Dr Kathy Kain and Dr Stephen Terrell, as well as TRE® (Trauma Releasing Exercises), the Rest & Restore Protocol®, and Yoga Teacher Training (YTTC).
Alongside this, I have a long-standing interest in mindfulness and contemplative practice. I completed the practicum of the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher training with UMass Medical School (Boston, USA). I am also a fully qualified MiSP teacher, delivering mindfulness programmes for children and teenagers, and I have undertaken the Mindful Self-Compassion Intensive developed by Christopher Germer PhD and Kristin Neff PhD.
I was a student of Susannah Grover (Diamond Approach / Ineffable Stream) for almost ten years and maintain an ongoing weekly inquiry practice.
I also hold an MA in Visual Arts Practice and have trained with Create, the National Development Agency for Collaborative Arts, which continues to inform my creative and relational approach to clinical work.
Prior to my clinical career, I lived in Paris for almost ten years. During that time, I worked as a Project Manager for EuroJeune, a European Union–funded communication agency, at the Trade Directorate of the OECD, and as a Consultant in the Education Section of UNESCO. I also worked as a HR Manager for a large US multinational and a Project Manager for a French training consultancy company.
